Believe it or not, many people don’t know this little known fact about me… It’s kind of been kept a secret for very long but I came to terms with it only recently in the last few months. It’s something that dates back to my childhood and I only really thought about recently, but it’s true and I was a lot ashamed of it before, but I’m not really anymore, because I don’t fit the stereotype.
I am a gamer.
There I said it, yes it’s true I am a gamer. I used to play Nintendo, SNES, Gameboy Colour, PC Games and I never realised that I was just like all the rest, yet so different. I only really came to this conclusion when I joined a gaming clan because I was sick of playing with toxic players, and I’ve never looked back.
So how am I not stereotypical? I love sunshine, I don’t hide away for hours at a time, I like being active and play sports, I study stuff other than computer science, I contribute to society, I have social skills, I don’t live in a “lair”, and I’m also a Mac user.
What game do I play? Well in fact I’m staff member for a League of Legends division of a pretty large clan on the internet, which I won’t say which one, but I’ve had a lot of fun. What sets me apart? I don’t rage, I don’t talk down to others, I don’t harass others, I’m pretty positive of a player for being kind of rubbish, but I don’t give a flying fuck. I play it to have fun.
I’m also a closet Minecraft player, and I’m equally rubbish at that. But there I said it, it’s out there for the world to see. I’m a teacher, and I’m a gamer, and that must make me the coolest teacher out there.
