I’ve recently been exploring the world of live theater. In other words I’ve been culturally stimulating myself in some fashion, and thus going against all principles, and going downtown. *shudders*
In November I was lucky enough to see the musical Wicked which was absolutely fantastic. It was playing at the Canon Theater, and I nearly cried when I finally saw it, after waiting for years and listening to the CD recording of it thousands of times. It was everything I could ever have hoped it be, but now it’s only a distant memory sadly.
A few days ago I weet to see Priscilla Queen of the Desert, the musical at the Princess of Wales Theater. After having seen the film a few years ago, I knew exactly what I was getting myself into, but I’m entirely convinced that the majority of the crowd did. If you don’t like drag queens, gitter, or show-tunes, this musical is not for you!
I, of course, loved it and can only wish that the tears running down my face throughout the show weren’t visible by others. They were tears of happiness of course. Now, if I can get over my fear of drag-queens, I should actually go and see a real drag-queen show. However, that will involve getting over my well deserved fear of the Village.
Chances are slim that that will be happening.
